Korean pancake mix is a flour mix used to make Korean style pancakes, Jeaon. As the name says, it already has all of ingredients for making pancake batter except the water. Simply mix this powder with some water and add different kinds of vegetables or seafood in it. To make them taste better, I usually mix some normal flour with this, and sometimes add frying mix (when I want to make them more crispy.)

Hi Aeri! I just discovered your site, and it’s great!
I’m wondering if you have a substitute for this pancake mix, using basic ingredients? I’ll be moving to a developing country for a year, and they don’t have things like ready-made mixes available 🙁
Aeri Lee says
hi Ingrid,
Happy to meet you. Aha, don’t worry, you can just use all purpose flour instead of pancake mix. Actually, I prefer to use normal flour sometimes…since I don’t like some flavor it has in it.. such as black pepper powder…so.. just use normal flour.. it works fine. thanks

Korean pancake, I bet they are better than Ihop pancake. The seafood idea sounds like a good idea in pancake.

Dear Aeri,
I’ve bought korean pancake mix last week. Since the direction/ingredients & etc in korean words, can you tell me what is the ratio of pancake mix : water (using cup). Is it 1:1 or 2:1
Thanks in advance
Aeri Lee says
Sorry I don’t have the package now..so can’t read what it said.. when I make my Korean pancake.. I usually use.. 1:1 ratio..so try that..and adjust the consistency in your preference.. thanks
elnina says
I heard it’s good to mix the pancake mix with the frying mix to get the pancake more crispy. What is the ratio?
Thank you!! 🙂
Aeri Lee says
hi elnina,
I prefer using normal flour instead of pancake mix for making jeon..anyway.. yes.. I mix flour and frying mix to make the pancake more crispy..it depends on how crispy you want.. my case..I put flour : fying mix = 2:1
