In Korea, cheese oven spaghetti is popular in pizza or some other Western-style restaurants. Today, I will make my own version of cheese oven spaghetti. Spaghetti with melted mozzarella cheese, meat, and vegetables tastes great. 😀
Yield: 3 Servings
Short Korean Lesson
- Gwail (과일) = Fruits
- ChaeSo (채소) = Vegetables
Video Instructions
Main Ingredients
- 1 Handful Spaghetti (7oz)
- 1 Cup Ground Beef (8oz)
- 1 Medium Onion (1 Cup)
- ½ Cup Carrot
- 2 Cups Mozzarella Cheese
- 1 Jar Spaghetti Sauce (1 Lb 10oz)
- ½ Tbsp Minced Garlic
- Some Olive Oil, Salt, Black Pepper, Parsley
Directions
Finely chop 1 cup of onion and ½ cup of carrot.
In a heated pan, add ½ Tbsp of olive oil, ½ Tbsp of minced garlic, 1 Tbsp of finely chopped onion and fry them for 10 seconds on high.
Add the beef, ½ tsp of black pepper, and ½ tsp of salt. Brown the beef on medium high.
Add the onion and carrot. Cook for 3 minutes on high.
In boiling water, add 1 handful of spaghetti, ½ Tbsp of olive oil, ½ tsp of sea salt. Cook the spaghetti until it is almost finished.
Drain the water and add the cooked spaghetti to the pan and stir gently.
Add 1½ Tbsp of olive oil and fry for 3 minutes on high.
In a dish safe for baking, place some mozzarella cheese across the bottom.
Spread some spaghetti sauce on top of the cheese.
Add some spaghetti along with the meat and vegetables on top of the sauce.
Spread some more sauce on top of the spaghetti.
Sprinkle some cheese on top. To garnish, sprinkle a little bit of parsley on the cheese.
Bake it in a 425°F oven for about 10 minutes. Once the cheese starts to melt, change the oven to broil mode and bake it until the cheese becomes golden brown.
Enjoy! 😀

Hi farleen,
I used Rizzo’s homemade tomato and basil sauce. for this video..but I love to use my mother-in-law’s homemade spaghetti sauce. She makes them once a year..and canned them. LOVE THEM..best ever spaghetti sauce.. is there any spaghetti sauce brand you will recommend for me? I’m still not that familiar with American groceries yet. hehe LOVE YOU.. You are so special friend arleen… you gave me a big smile again.. (you know what I’m talking about..) thanks …

Hi Aeri,
This dish looks so good! I’ll give it a try once I get the chance to buy a jar of the pasta sauce,, :))
I have a rather unrelated question, hope its okay with you heehee,, recently, by mistake, I bought Keum-S ganjang instead of the regular Jin S ganjang,, Both brands are Sempio
I noticed that keum-s ganjang is darker in color, so I’m wondering if it’ll affect my cooking in any way possible?
What are the differences between the two types of soy sauce? Should I refund it and get the regular instead?
Thank you
Kelly
Aeri Lee says
hi Kelly,
Yes, try it someday.
haha..about your soy sauce question.. oh my.. I just posted something about Sempio company products..then you asked me about them..lol..
Oh.. keum s ganjang and jin s ganjang are same for their usage I think… so dont’ worry..
I’ve used both as my normal soy sauce.. I can’t see much difference between them..I think.. keum -s soy sauce is.. kind of upgrade version of soy sauce.. ^^ thanks 😀
Kelly says
hahha yeah,, actually i asked you the question before you wrote the review on sempio products. so when i checked on your site yesterday and saw the title of your last post, the thought that immediately came to my mind was “wow! aeri must have read my question and decided to answer it THIS way!”
hahhaa,, anyways,, thank you for your input. I’m glad i won’t need to refund it heehee
Aeri Lee says
Hi Kelly,
aha.. you are right.. I was working on the post… then I got your comment and I thought it’s funny because I was going to mention about the soy sauce..hehe Yep.. you don’t need to refund it.. enjoy your cooking with delicious soy sauce..hehe 😀

I just tried this recipe and I am very happy with it. It is very tasty. I added finely chopped portobella mushrooms to the recipe and substituted the ground beef for ground turkey.
Aeri Lee says
hi Miss N,
I like that people change the recipes a little..and make them great for their taste… mushrooms and ground turkey sound good.. you gave us some idea for this dish..thanks 😀
Florine says
Hi Aeri, first of all, I LOVE your website with all of your videos!! Last week I tried the cheese oven spaghetti, it was very delicious!!! I used Del Monte spaghetti sause and I skipped the onions because I couldn’t find onions and I forgot the carrot. I will try your other recipes soon!!! I will post a picture soon of my cheese oven spaghetti!
Aeri Lee says
hi Florine,
Nice to meet you. Oh..I will love to see your cheese oven spaghetti picture. Del Monte Spaghetti.. aha it must be taste good..I will try that brand someday. thanks 😀
Shirley says
I love this dish very much! But i personally don’t like spaghetti sauce as i don’t like tomato and I cannot eat beef because of religious purposes. What can i use instead of beef and spaghetti sauce? And i like creamy and olive oil sauce served with spaghetti. if it helps 😀 Thanks.
Aeri Lee says
hi Shirley,
oops.. you deleted 2 important ingredients… lol.. oh well.. maybe you can make creamy cheese oven pasta then.. just use the pasta sauce you like..and for creamy sauce..or garlic olive sauce..for meat.. shrimp will match better..and just do rest of things same..^^

I am in school and as an assessment for my catering class we have to chose a country to make a dish , I chose Korea and have been struggling to find a recipe , this looks so nice but we only have 50 minutes , how long does this take to cook and prepare ?
Aeri Lee says
hi Sofia Russell,
Wow, you are studying about cooking? That’s so cool. Well.. if you picked Korean food.. this recipe is not quite korean food..because it’s western food in Korea.. unless you really really want this recipe..I want you suggest to try other more traditional Korean food for your assessment. If it’s catering, it will be a bigger portion.. then it will be a little tricky to prepare and bake all these in 50 minutes. Please let me know more detailed about food choice.. maybe i can help you to pick a dish. thanks
nins says
This looks so delicious, better than the restaurant. i have seen it with pickles as a sidedish. is this dish often served with sliced cucumber pickles?
Aeri Lee says
hi nins,
Yep.. the sweet cucumber pickles are common for this dish ^^
Leigh says
Hi, Aeri! Thanks for this recipe! I made this dish this past weekend, but I used wheat spaghetti and ground turkey instead. The only problem is that I didn’t pay attention to how long it was broiling and burned the cheese a little on the top – oops! But it still turned out fine and my boyfriend thought it was delicious. There’s only 2 of us, so this is our dinner for 3 nights in a row – hehehe. (^_^)
Jasmine says

Young Taek says
Hi Aeri,
Your page is amazing. I found it while searching for other korean recipes. I’m a korean male myself married with a son. Anyway keep up the good work, can’t wait to see a new recipe.
Btw, can you give me a recipe for cucumber kimchi? Maangchi calls it “oisobagi kimchi” and I guess that’s correct. The kind I’m looking for are sliced whole kirby pickles stuffed with kim chi like mixture and usually stored in a jar with water.
Young Taek.

Hi Aeri,
Do you think I can substitute grounded beef with pork? My mom’s allergic to beef and I wouldn’t want to leave her out of tasting great food. =)Or do you have any other suggestion as to what I should substitute beef with?
Aeri Lee says
hi Wendy,
Yes, you can use ground pork instead..no problem. ^^ thanks
