Oatmeal cookies usually have raisins in them, but one year I decided to use cranberries instead of raisins. Now I usually always use cranberries. If you prefer, you can substitute raisins instead of the cranberries.
Yield: 4 Dozen Cookies
Short Korean Lesson
- MaSiDa (마시다) = Drink
- MeokDa (먹다) = Eat
Main Ingredients
- 3 Cups Rolled Oats (Not Instant Oatmeal)
- 1½ Cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 Cup Dried Cranberries
- 1 Cup Butter (Room Temperature)
- ¾ Cup Brown Sugar (Firmly Packed)
- ½ Cup Granulated Sugar
- 2 Eggs
- 1½ tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
Directions
Preheat your oven to 350°F. In a mixer, beat together 1 cup of butter at room temperature, ¾ cup of brown sugar (firmly packed), and ½ cup of granulated sugar.
Add and beat in 2 eggs and 1½ tsp of vanilla extract.
Add and beat in 1½ cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tsp of baking soda, and 1 tsp of cinnamon.
Mix in 3 cups of uncooked rolled oats and 1 cup of dried cranberries by hand.
Place rounded balls of cookie dough on an un-greased cookie sheet. The balls will flatten as they cook.
Bake for 11 minutes or until they are lightly brown.
Cool the cookies for 1 or 2 minutes before removing them from the tray. Then place them on a wire rack to finish cooling.
Oatmeal cookies are one of my favorite cookies. I hope you will like them.

I always love to try different cookie recipes. I’ll try this one soon! Can I substitute cranberries for chocolate? 😀
Diane says
Hi Jin Hee,
You are able to substitute chocolate in place of the cranberries. 😛
Ecclasyas says
Since my sister and I don’t like fruits in cakes or cookies can I substitute it with something else? Or like should I just add extra oatmeal?
Diane says
Hi Ecclasyas,
You should be able to substitute nuts or chocolate in place of the cranberries. I never tried doing that but don’t see why it wouldn’t work. If you don’t want to add anything, maybe you should increase the oatmeal just a little.

Aeri, I always always view the cookie/cake recipe, but I seldom seldom try it, because as your comments, it is very fat. Please , if you are free to think of it, teach me a recipe which is low low fat, no mater cookie or cake. I afraid of being fat, as I already fat la. Ha, fat people love cookie and cake, this is the fact, but i don’t the fat…… Bye Bye, anyway, really lkie this recipe. Looking forward for next dessert recipe. Thanks a billion.

I think it’s mean of you to stereotype people that if they like to eat cakes, cookies or sweets that they are fat. Eating sweets to not make you fat. It’s the lack of a balance diet & lack of exercise that makes you fat. If you are so afraid to get fat to the point you’re afraid to try new foods, then girl, you must have some sort of eating disorder. The French people eat all the time & they are the skinniest, people around. The best food in life are the fatty ones & they are the good fats.
Xiahwife says
I think you should just not eat all together.

I’ve always done it with cranberries! It tastes way better than raisins & once in a while, I like to add white chocolate chips to it 😉
