Fried fish cake and egg guk is a simple and delicious daily soup. Previously, I posted the street vender version of this (Fish Cake Guk) a few years ago. This is another way to make delicious soup with fish cakes at home. Soft fish cakes and egg, along with a savory broth, tastes great.

Main Ingredients
- 4 Cups Water
- 1 Cup Fried Fish Cakes
- ½ Cup Onion
- 2 Eggs
- 2 Green Onions
- 1 Tbsp Red Hot Pepper (Optional)
- ½ Tbsp Garlic, Minced
- 2 tsp Soup Soy Sauce
- ¾ tsp Salt
Directions
Chop 1 cup (2 pieces) of fried fish cake into ⅓ x 1 inch strips. Slice ½ cup worth of an onion into ¼ inch pieces. Cut 2 green onions into ¼ inch pieces. Cut 1 Tbsp worth of red hot pepper thinly (optional).
Pour 4 cups of water into a pot and add the chopped fried fish cakes. Cook it on medium-high.
Once it starts to boil, add the onion, 2 tsp of soup soy sauce, and ¾ tsp of salt. Cook covered for 7 minutes on medium-high.
Add ½ Tbsp of minced garlic and stir it.
Then drizzle 2 mixed eggs into the soup. Slowly stir. Cook 2 more minutes on high.
Lastly, add the chopped green onions and red hot peppers. Cook for another minute and turn off the heat.
Adjust the saltiness with soup soy sauce or salt. If you have Sempio Youndoo, use a little of it for seasoning. That will provide you with even better flavor.
This can be a good soup for kids. Simply mix the soup with some rice and feed it to your kids. They will love it. Try it someday. 🙂

I love eomuk! It has a nice mild fish flavor and chewy texture. I buy big packages of it and make eomuk bokkeum often using your recipes, but sometimes want to try something different so this recipe is great. I like to use fish sauce instead of soup soy sauce sometimes too. Thanks for the great recipes!
