A few weeks ago, I posted a recipe for corn cheese dumplings and some people already tried and loved it. Then, one of the comments I got asked me if I can share a recipe for homemade dumpling wrappers because she wanted to try my recipe, but cannot get store bought dumplings around her. I thought there might be more people like her who cannot get dumpling wrappers easily, so I created this recipe and I’m very excited to share it with you today. It takes some labor, but it only has 3 ingredients. The texture and flavor is even better than store bought ones according to my husband. lol So let’s get started.

Main Ingredients:
- 1½ Cups All-Purpose Flour
- ½ Cup Hot Water
- ½ tsp Salt
- Extra Flour for Dusting
Directions
For this recipe, we will need only 3 ingredients.
Add 1½ cups of all purpose flour and ½ tsp of salt in a mixing bowl. Mix it together.
Here, we need about ½ cup of hot water. As you can see, it is not boiling water, but the steam is still coming off the water. This is one secret ingredient for the chewy texture of my dumpling wrappers. Add water little by little whiling mixing it into the flour.
I try to add least amount of water as possible to get a good elastic and firm dough texture. When the flour crumbles, start to put all the crumbles together in one big chunk.
Gently knead the dough to get all the remaining crumbles to blend together. Then, take it out from the mixing bowl.
On a rolling mat, knead the dough for about 5 minutes as you would knead bread dough. You can also use a dough mixer or bread machine for this step. It does not have to have a perfectly smooth surface, but when it gets a little soft like this, it is enough. Form it into a ball.
Wrap the dough with some plastic wrap and let it set for at least an hour. This step also helps the dough becomes soft and elastic.
2 hours later, the dough looks nice. Cut it in half.
Then, roll each piece with both hands on a rolling mat to form a cylinder. It will be around 8 inch long and 1½ inches in diameter.
It takes some time to roll each dumpling wrapper. Therefore, while you are working on the first roll, wrap the other one with some plastic wrap, so that it will not dry out.
We will cut one rolled dough into 12 pieces. So divide it into 4 and then divide each of the 4 pieces into 3 pieces. This will help to make it easier to divide the dough into similar sizes.
Each piece will be about 0.5 oz (15 g). Take one dough piece and form it into a round shape before rolling it.
Press it down with your palm or finger gently.
Roll the dough with a rolling pin until it becomes 4 inches in diameter.
I recommend that you try to roll around the edges of the dumpling wrappers more than the center part, so that you will get better result when you fold your dumpling wrappers later to make dumplings.
Use the same process for the rest of the dough. You will get 24 dumpling wrappers with this recipe. To show you the result of my homemade dumpling wrappers for cooking, I made some steamed dumplings and fried dumplings. Both of them turned out delicious. Now, you can try
