I shared so many Korean pancake (Jeon) recipes over the years. Today, I want to add another delicious Jeon recipe using Korean radish. It is called “무전 (MuJeon) in Korean. I tried to make this jeon as simple as possible to fully enjoy the natural flavor of the Korean radish. You do not need any dipping sauce! 🙂 Please try it someday.

Video Instructions
Main Ingredients:
- 2 Cups Korean Radish (½ lb) (¼ tsp Salt)
- ½ Cup Korean Frying Mix or Korean Pancake Mix
- 2 Tbsp Cold Water
- 1 Tbsp Hot Pepper
- ⅛ tsp Salt
- Some Finely Chopped Green Onion (For Garnish, Optional)
- Some Cooking Oil for Frying
Directions
Prepare about ½ lb worth of Korean radish and 1 Tbsp worth of hot pepper. If you don’t want hot pepper, you can replace it with 2 Tbsp worth of green onion as well.
Chop the radish into 2 inch long thin strips.
Season the radish with ¼ tsp salt and let it set for about 10 minutes.
Chop the hot pepper into tiny pieces.
After 10 minutes, the radish will get nicely seasoned. Now, add ½ cup of Korean frying mix (or pancake mix), ⅛ tsp of salt, and about 2 Tbsp of water to the radish. This frying mix will give a crispy texture and savory flavor to the jeon, so I highly recommend you try it for this recipe. However, if you do not have it, you can just use normal wheat flour as well.
Mix everything together. Since we got a little bit of water from the the salted radish, we do not need as much water to add to it this time. Using the least amount of flour and water for the jeon is my secret tip for this recipe.
Finally, add the chopped hot pepper and mix one more time. It is too simple and easy to make, isn’t it ? 😉
Take out a spoonful of the radish mixture.
Then, put it in a heated and generously oiled pan. Spread it out to get a nice circular shape. Do the same
thing for other piece of jeon. Fry them for about 5 minutes on medium-high.
After 5 minutes, flip them over and fry for another 5 minutes to make them beautifully golden brown. If needed, add some more cooking oil here and there to make it extra crispy jeon.
Sprinkle some finely chopped green onions to garnish the dish. Enjoy!!
