Today, let’s make a something sweet and cool for a summer treat. Watermelon season has come back and you might want to try to make something new with it. So, I will introduce a Korean style watermelon punch. It is surprisingly easy to make yet super delicious.
Yield: 4 Servings
Short Korean Lesson
- SuBak (수박) = Watermelon
- BakSu (박수) = Clap
- ½ Medium Sized Seedless Watermelon (4 Cups)
- ½ Cup Fresh Blueberries
- 1 Cup Milk
- 1 Cup Ice Cubes (Optional)
- ¾ Cup Sierra Mist Soda
- 1½ Generous Tbsp Condensed Milk
Prepare 1 medium sized seedless watermelon. We are going to use half of it in this recipe. However, do you have any special tips to pick a perfect watermelon from the store? If so, please share it with us in the comment section. In my case, I look for a dark watermelon skin color and big yellow spots on the bottom. I also make sure it isn’t shiny and that it has a small ground spot, which is also known as the watermelon belly button.
Cut the watermelon in half horizontally. Scoop out the watermelon with a special scooping tool or a spoon.
You will get about 4 cups of watermelon spheres from half of the medium-sized watermelon.
Go ahead and dig out as much of the remaining watermelon as you can to make a watermelon bowl. Don’t throw away the watermelon juice and chunks; you can eat them!
Now the watermelon bowl is ready to be filled with the watermelon punch.
Combine 1½ generous Tbsp of condensed milk with 1 cup of milk. Stir it well until the condensed milk dissolved completely.
Put all the watermelon spheres into the watermelon bowl.
Add about ½ cup of fresh blueberries into the watermelon bowl as well.
You can also put 1 cup of ice cubes on it if you are going to serve the watermelon punch right away. The ice is used to make the punch cooler. However, melted ice can make the punch less sweet, so you do not want toads it too early to the punch if you are not going to serve it soon.
Pour the sweetened milk over the watermelon.
Finally, pour ¾ cup of Sierra Mist Soda. You can also use similar flavored soda such as Seven Up, Ginger Ale, etc.
Gently stir everything once or twice and then serve.
It is not only very refreshing and tasty but also it looks cool.
