This fried spicy garlic and beef side dish is a unique way to eat garlic and meat together. The combination together is great. My husband tried it for the first time and he loved it. 🙂 You can eat this as a side dish but you can also use it for lettuce wrapping with rice. To do that, simply top a leaf of lettuce with some rice and a little meat. Then wrap and eat it. Delicious~~~ 🙂 Try this simple but very tasty food someday.
Yield: 1 Cup
Short Korean Lesson
- GongJu (공주) = Princess
- WangJa (왕자) = Prince
Video Instructions
Main Ingredients
- 1 Cup Ground Beef
- 1 Garlic Bulb (About 10-12 Garlic Cloves)
- ½ Cup Red Pepper Paste
- 1-2 Tbsp Cooking Oil
- 2 Tbsp Cooking Wine or Water
- 1 tsp Sugar
- ¼ tsp Vinegar
- 1 tsp Sesame Seeds
- 1 Pinch Salt
- 1 Pinch Black Pepper
Directions
Chop 1 garlic bulb into small chunks. You will get about a ⅓ generous cup of garlic.
Prepare 1 cup of ground beef. You can also use ground pork, chicken, or turkey.
Brown the meat with 1 pinch each of salt and black pepper. Once the meat has browned, add the garlic. Fry it for 3 minutes on high.
After 3 minutes, add ½ cup of red pepper paste, 1-2 Tbsp of cooking oil, 2 Tbsp of cooking wine or water, 1 tsp of sugar, and ¼ tsp of vinegar. Fry for about 10 minutes on medium, occasionally stirring.
Keep it in the refrigerator and serve it cool. You can eat this dish for a week; so it can be a good daily side dish like kimchi for a week if you eat Korean food often. 🙂 Thanks.

Thank you Aeri for another easy recipe with me in mind – quick and easy 😀 (and not requiring anything extraordinary). You do have a remarkable talent.

Hi Aeri ^^/
I was browsing through the web and saw an article about “kongbap” and how nutritious it is. It’s funny because rice and beans are the base of my daily diet as a brazilian, so i got curious. Could you make a kongbap recipe in the future? Pretty please? If that doesn’t bother you a lot, of course 🙂
God bless ♥ ~
Aeri Lee says
hi Thaisa,

Aeri: how long can you keep garlic chive kimchi in the fridge?
I just made it the other day and I love it! Thanks for posting all your delicious recipes. I can’t wait to try this garlic beef you just posted.
Aeri Lee says
hi :D,
You can keep it for several weeks. 🙂 Enjoy your garlic chive kimchi. Thanks ~~
:D says
The long it sits the better. I already have it for 2 weeks and is still very tasty. This is also my FAVORITE kimchi as well. I love it! Thank you for your post and videotaping the process.
Aeri Lee says
hi 😀
You are welcome. ^^ hehe thanks
LeAnn says
red pepper paste means gochujang or normal chili paste?
Aeri Lee says
hi LeAnn,
Yep it is gochujang. ^^
jaenelle says
wow this looks so delicious. To serve it cold sounds weird, but I will definitely try it! I love garlic and sesame..thank you!
Aeri Lee says
hi jaenelle,
It’s okay to eat cold..but if you don’t want.. you can heat a little in the microwave too. 🙂
Caroline says
I made it last night and it was delicious! A tad bit too spicy for me so I might reduce the gochujang a little next time. This is a great item to put in a bento box with some rice and kimchi. Yum!
Manky Cat says
Too funny! I packed exactly that for my bento (with a little extra gochujang… my hubby cut down on the paste when he made this dish last night).
😀

Aeri,
Thank you sooooo much for your awesome website and even better recipes! My mother is Korean and I grew up eating ALOT of Korean food; however, I only learned how to make a few (simple) dishes. Now that I have a family of my own and they love Korean food equally as I, I often have to buy pre-made dishes at my local Korean market (2hours away). I’m so happy to have found your website! Now I can make what I usually buy but in bigger quantity. Thank you so very much…kamsamneda!
Chelsie-Belle says
I tried this tonight & it was very good, although a bit greasy…I really didn’t measure out the EXACT portions the recipe called for the way I probably should have.
Also I usually love spicy food, but I think I went overboard with the gochujang. I had it with kimchi, which makes it taste spicier also. My mother loves it!
Thank you so much for sharing!

I stumbled across your website today and I absolutely love it and you! I love Korean food and the recipes you’ve shared seem simple for me to attempt. One detail that I really like about your website is that you tell how to store the ingredients and how long the dishes are okay to eat once prepared.

Hi Aeri! Can you make a Spicy Chicken Feet video? I saw this in Boys Over Flowers and have wanted to try it since ^^ Thank you!
Aeri Lee says

About your question, I personally don’t eat chicken feet (never ate before..lol) and I can not get chicken feet around where I live now..but I will still add it to my list..and when I can get a chance to find chicken feet, I will try to make the recipe for you. Thanks 🙂

My post is proof that fantastic recipes can still be found. I have your cook book and have since discovered your blog. Thank you for this recipe, this brings us back to our memories of our days in the military and all the delicious meals that the diverse ethnic pool of military families can enjoy. I surprised Hubby with this one and he’s a happy camper. (((Big hugs)))
