When you are alone at home and feel lazy to cook something for your meal, what are your choices? Instant ramen? TV dinners? They don’t sound very healthy. Sandwiches? But, I want something spicy, like some spicy Korean food. Maybe you could skip eating? But oh, how can that even be an option? lol I have a good solution for this dilemma, if you find yourself in such a situation. 😉 Without using the stove or oven, you can prepare this super simple, yet very tasty meal in 5 minutes. 🙂 The cooked rice mixes with the kimchi, tuna, and sesame oil to give you a great taste. I can say that kimchi and tuna are a perfect match. If you love kimchi, like me, please try it someday.
Yield: 1 Serving
Short Korean Lesson
- JangNanGam (장난감) = Toy
- InHyeong (인형) = Doll
Video Instructions
Main Ingredients
- 1 Cup Short Grain Rice, Cooked
- ½ Cup Well Fermented Kimchi
- 2 Tbsp Tuna in Oil (Canned)
- 2 Tbsp Seasoned Seaweed Snack (Optional)
- ½ tsp Sesame Oil
- ½ tsp Sesame Seeds
- ½ tsp Green Onion (Optional)
- ½ tsp Red Hot Pepper (Optional)
Directions
Obtain about 1 cup of cooked rice.
Obtain about ½ cup worth of well fermented kimchi. Kimchi gives plenty of flavor to this bibimbap, so you do not need extra sauce for it. Delicious kimchi is a key ingredient for this dish. Depending on your tastes, you can adjust the amount of kimchi.
Obtain 2 Tbsp of canned tuna and 2 tbsp of seasoned seaweed snack. The seaweed snack is optional.
Cut ½ tsp worth each of green onion and red hot pepper thinly. These are also optional.
Put the cooked rice in a serving bowl.
Put the kimchi, tuna, and seaweed snack on top of the rice.
Garnish the dish with the green onion and hot pepper.
Sprinkle ½ tsp of sesame seeds and drizzle ½ tsp of sesame oil on top of everything. If you do not like sesame oil, you can skip it. Depending on your kimchi, the saltness and spiciness can vary. So you may need to adjust the saltness and spiciness with some salt or about ½ tsp gochujang (Korean hot pepper paste).
Mix everything together before eating. As you can see, some of the ingredients in this recipe are optional. For a more colorful dish, I added some of the ingredients such as seaweed snack, green onion, and hot pepper. The most important ingredients are rice, kimchi, tuna, and sesame oil. Enjoy!

I just found your website because I was looking for a porridge recipe on you tube to make with my Zojiroshi cooker. But everything I see requires cooking other stuff to eat with the porridge.
Bibimbap sounds so good right now, so I went to your website from the Chicken Porridge (닭 죽) youtube video. I’m glad I did because I have all the ingredients for the Bibimbap YEAY. Time to get eating.. Thanks for having a website to help this single Korean guy who doesn’t know how to cook Korean food lol.
Aeri Lee says
hi James,
Hehe.. thanks for your comment, James. If you keep try, you will be a master of Korean cooking. 😉 Hope to see you more often here.

I have a question is it a cold meal ? or a hot meal ? I mean the rice should be hot ? (sorry about my English :/ )
Aeri Lee says
hi Julie,
It is up to you. For mine.. I like to have warm rice..and the tuna and kimchi don’t have to be warm.. ^^ it is both good hot and cold.. thanks

Hi Aeri, I wanted to take a moment to say that I really love your website and your channel. I found your channel after searching in how to make Korean style potato pancakes, and I must say your channel helped a lot. After scrolling through some of your other videos I also realized how much more I can make. I will be a regular viewer since I am highly interested and involved with the Korean culture myself!
Anyway, I was wondering if you can make a tutorial on the classic regular bibimbap dish. I see that you have one with tuna, but I am not a big fan of tuna unfortunately.
If you can help me out please reply and thank you in advance!
P.S. Your family is so adorable !!
