Hi everyone! Today, I will make a super delicious Korean pancake, or jeon, with crown daisy and squid. Crown daisy has it’s own unique flavor and it tastes so good when you make jeon with it. The flavor of crown daisy, squid, and other vegetables is delicious. It has a crispy and chewy batter that is perfect dipped in the savory dipping sauce. Try it someday.

Video Instructions
Main Ingredients
- 1 Cup Crown Daisy
- ½ Cup Squid
- ¼ Cup Onion
- ¼ Cup Green Onion
- 2 Tbsp Red Hot Pepper (Optional)
- Some Cooking Oil (for Frying)
Batter Ingredients
- ½ Cup Korean Pancake Mix
- ¼ Cup Korean Frying Mix
- ¾ Cup Cold Water
- 1 Egg
- ½ tsp Salt
Dipping Sauce Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- ½ Tbsp Water
- ¾ tsp Apple Vinegar
- 2 Pinches Sugar
Directions
Obtain all the vegetable ingredients and wash them good: 1 cup crown daisy, ¼ cup onion, ¼ cup green onion, and 2 Tbsp red hot pepper.
Obtain about ½ cup worth of a squid. Remove the guts and other bad parts, and then wash it good.
Cut the vegetable ingredients and squid into a little pieces. If you can not eat spicy food, you can skip the red hot pepper.
Combine all the ingredients for the batter in a mixing bowl: ½ cup Korean pancake mix, ¼ cup Korean frying mix, ¾ cup cold water, 1 egg, and ½ tsp salt. If you do not have Korean pancake mix or Korean frying mix, you can use 1 cup of all purpose flour instead.
Mix everything well. The consistency will be like pancake batter.
Add the chopped vegetables and squid into the batter.
Mix everything together.
In a heated nonstick pan with a generous amount of cooking oil, put a spoonful of the batter. Spread it to form a small round circle with a spoon. Fry them on medium-high.
When one side of the pancake become nicely golden brown, flip the pancake and fry it until the other side become nicely golden brown too.
Combine all the dipping sauce ingredients in a small serving bowl: 1 Tbsp soy sauce, ½ Tbsp water, ¾ tsp apple vinegar, and 2 pinches sugar.
I got another big thumbs up from my little taste testers with this recipe. 🙂 You can make it for your kids without the hot pepper and get a big thumbs up too. Enjoy! Here are two of Sempio’s flour products. One is pancake mix and the other one is frying mix. These are basically wheat flour products mixed with some other ingredients to give them more flavor and better texture for your Korean pancakes and fried food. You can see more details about these products on Sempio’s English website, sempio.com/eng.

I willdefinitely try this, I love panjeon!
I only use the pancake mix and my panjeon never stays crispy, it must be the frying mix that makes it crispy? Thanks for this!

I made this for lunch with some modification. I couldn’t find crown daisy in my area, so I substituted with salad greens and left out the green onions and hot pepper chilli. It’s so good! I love the chewiness of the squids and the crunchiness of the veggies! Oh, I also added sesame oil to the batter mixture and dipping sauce…simply bcos I love the taste of sesame oil. Heehee. Thanks for recipe, Aeri! 🙂
