Beef GalBi
소갈비, SoGalBi
In Korea, we love to grill marinated meat (beef, pork, or chicken). There are two main flavors for marinated meat. One is spicy, which uses mainly red pepper paste. The other one is sweet & salty which is similar to a BBQ flavor. That type uses mainly soy sauce, pear, honey, sugar, apple, kiwi, and etc. Many restaurants have indoor grills at each table so that customers can grill their own meat themselves and enjoy the fresh cooked flavor. Today, I will show you a very popular marinated meat dish called GalBi. It takes time to marinate the meat, but otherwise, it is very simple and easy to make. You can freeze some of the marinated meat to grill at a later time. Enjoy! 😀

Spicy Squid BokkEum
매운 오징어 볶음, MaeUn OJingEo BokkEum
MaeUn OJingEo BokkEum (매운 오징어 볶음) is a spicy fried squid dish. This can be used as both a side dish or as a main dish. As a main dish, you put it on top of your rice, or thin boiled noodles. Then mix the fried squid with rice or noodles and eat. Sometimes you can eat it with boiled bean sprouts (KongNaMul) instead of noodles. If you really like spicy food, this recipe might not be that spicy for you, so add more red pepper paste and red pepper powder.

Spicy Mini Chicken TwiGim
미니 양념 치킨, MiNi YangNyeom Chicken
Today’s recipe is Korean styled mini fried chicken with a sweet and mildly spicy sauce. The reason I use the name “mini” for this recipe is because I will use bite sized pieces of chicken breast for it. It is nice to eat since the pieces of fried chicken are small without the bone and skin. Try this delicious dish for a party or football game someday. 😀

Beef Meatball TwiGim
소고기 완자 튀김, SoGoGi WanJa TwiGim
This is another one of my mom’s recipes. Yay! When my family lived in the peaceful country, because of my father’s job (teacher), my mom used to make a lunch box and deliver it to him at school. In the morning, I woke up with this awesome smell. “Wow, mom is cooking meat balls for dad’s lunch box. @.@” I sat next to her and enjoyed watching her cook. Of course, I could sample this delicious food before my father tried it. hehe … My father also loved this food. This was a good memory for me. Do you also have any special memories from your mom’s wonderful food?

Stuffed Pepper Jeon
고추전, GoChuJeon
The first time I made this food for my in laws in America, they called them “stuffed peppers,” and I found there are different kinds of stuffed peppers in America. The common American stuffed peppers are sweet peppers baked in the oven. Of course, the taste is different from these Korean stuffed peppers, but the idea of filling peppers with some ingredients and cooking them is the same. Anyway, I wanted to share Korean stuffed peppers with you. This is a holiday food, and it is one of my favorite foods. I learned how to make this from my mom. The marinated beef, hot pepper, and egg combination gives you a very tasty and happy flavor. We usually use less spicy peppers for this recipe because you don’t want the peppers to overpower the other flavors. If you can’t eat spicy food then I recommend that you use sweet peppers instead. I used both peppers in this recipe. You can eat this dish just plain or as a side dish.

Beef TangSuYuk
탕수육, TangSuYuk
TangSooYook (탕수육) is a Chinese-styled Korean food. You can find this food in Chinese restaurants in Korea. (This is not authentic Chinese food. *^^*) The fried meat tastes really great with the sweet and sour sauce. The onions, carrots, and cucumbers give the sauce a wonderful combination of different flavors for the meat. I hope you will like this.

Beef BulGoGi
불고기, BulGoGi
Bulgogi is one of the most famous Korean foods. Many foreigners visit Korea and try this delicious dish and love it. It not only has good flavor, but the way of eating this food is unique. We usually grill bulgogi at the table while we are eating a meal in a restaurant. Then we wrap bulgogi with lettuce, adding soybean paste, garlic, onion, carrot, and/or cucumber. If you have a chance to visit Korea, I recommend you try bulgogi. If you cannot, then try my recipe at home. hehe 😀
