Frying mix is one type of flour Korean people use for fried foods. As the name says, it’s already mixed with various ingredients for making frying batter. Simply mix this powder with some water. I usually use a mix of half frying mix and half normal flour for my frying since it tastes better that way.

hi Mye,
Don’t worry.. you can use some of your frying mix and normal all purpose flour together for your scallion pancake. It will come out delicious. thanks

Thanks so much for your thoughts on Korean Fry Mix.
I live in a predominantly Korean area in New Jersey so have easy access to Korean food products 🙂
I bought the fry mix for shrimp but the directions on the bag are in Korean 🙁
Thanks for the tip of half mix , half flour. I’ll do that. I’m assuming the consistency is like pancake batter?

hi Cheryl S.,
You are luck to get Korean products easily. 🙂 Depends on the food you make.. deep fried batter.. korean pancake batter.. you dip the ingredient in the batter.. or you mix the ingredient with the batter.. the consistency can be slightly different..but commonly..yes pancake better can be good.

Hello Aeri,
In your recipe “Spicy mini chicken twigim” can I use this frying mix? Or is it better if I only use cornstarch?
Thanks,
Anita
Aeri Lee says
Hi Anita,
I prefer to use cornstarch for crispy texture..but you can also use frying mix if you want. Thanks
