Hi everyone! Today, I will introduce a tasty jeon made with onion and beef that is common for Korean traditional holidays. The slightly sweet onion flavor, along with the seasoned beef, makes a perfect jeon. This can be a great party appetizer for your holiday meals. Try it someday. 🙂

Main Ingredients
- 20 Slices Onion
- 2 Eggs (2 Pinches Salt)
- ¼ Cup Flour
- 20 Red Hot Pepper Slices (Garnish)
- Some Cooking Oil (For Frying)
Meat Ingredients
- ½ Cup Ground Beef or Pork
- 1 Tbsp Green Onion, Finely Chopped
- 1 tsp Garlic, Minced
- 1 tsp Soy Sauce
- ½ tsp Sesame Oil
- 2 Pinches Black Pepper
Directions
Obtain ½ cup of ground beef or pork.
Add all the meat ingredients into the bowl: 1 Tbsp finely chopped green onion, 1 tsp minced garlic, 1 tsp soy sauce, ½ tsp sesame oil, 2 pinches black pepper, and ½ cup meat.
Mix everything well. Marinated the meat while you are preparing the other ingredients.
Slice a small sized onion into ¼-inch slices. Sprinkle some salt on top of the onion slices to season them.
Spread some flour evenly on a flat plate. Then place the sliced onions on top of the flour. Gently press them so that the bottom surface of the onion becomes covered with the flour.
Sift some flour on the top surfaces of the onions with a strainer.
Take about ½ Tbsp of marinated meat and make flat circle-shaped patty – about ¼-inch smaller around the edge than the onion.
Place each patty on top of each onion slice. Gently press the meat into the onion, so that it will stick to the onion.
Sift some more flour on top of the meat so that the egg will stick to the jeon.
Gently put a thin slice of hot pepper in the center of the meat. This is for better color and flavor, but it is optional. If you cannot eat spicy food, you can use a slice of green onion instead.
Break 2 Eggs and mix them well with 2 pinches of salt.
Dip the onion into the egg mixture. Cover the onion with the egg.
Place the egg-dipped onion on a heated pan with a generous amount of cooking oil.
Fry for about 5 minutes on medium.
Then flip the jeon and fry for another 3-5 minutes on medium, or until the meat has completely cooked.
With its nicely golden brown color, it looks very delicious.
Since the meat and onion are seasoned, you will not need any dipping sauce. However if you want, you can have some soy dipping sauce with it. This tastes good both warm and cool. This can be a kid friendly food too. Our kids loved it. Enjoy! P.S Btw, what is your Christmas party meal plan? Please share it with me.
