Today, I want to share one of my favorite childhood sides called GimJaBan BokkEum (김자반 볶음). Are you familiar with the Korean seasoned and roasted dried laver snack? It is very popular side for Korean kids. Instead of buying pre-made ones, you can cook it healthy and tasty at home in few minutes. Our boys love it when I mixed it with some rice and make rice balls for them. Try it someday for your children or yourself.

Main Ingredients:
- 4 Cups Dried Laver (GimJaBan) (1.5 oz)
- 2 Tbsp Cooking Oil
- 1 Tbsp Sugar
- 1 tsp Sesame Seeds
- ¼ tsp Salt
Directions
We need about 1.5 oz of this particular type of dried laver called GimJaban. You can easily break it into little pieces like this with your hands. It will be about 4 cups total.
Put the dried laver pieces in a wide bottomed pan or a wok. Then, add 2 Tbsp of cooking oil.
Mix the dried laver with the oil well. This way, you can get evenly crispy gimjaban bokkeum later.
Fry the dried laver for about 5 minutes on medium. At first, you can see its color is black. Occasionally stir it.
After 5 minutes, it will start to get a little greenish color to it. Now season it with ¼ tsp of salt, 1 Tbsp of sugar, and 1 tsp of sesame seeds. Fry 2 more minutes on medium. Be careful not too over cook or burn the dried seaweed. It should be cooked enough to get a good flavor, but it can be easily start to burn at some point.

When you want to prepare a quick meal or lunchbox for your kids, this can be a great option for you. I have another delicious side-dish using this gimjaban, so please check that recipe too.
