Main Ingredients:
- 1 lb Korean Radish (3 Cups)
- 1½ Cups Water
- ⅓ Cup Green Onions
- 1 Tbsp Red Hot Pepper (Optional)
Seasoning Ingredients:
- 1½ Tbsp Soup Soy Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Hot Pepper Powder
- ½ Tbsp Sugar
- 1 tsp Sesame Seeds
- 1 tsp Garlic, Minced
- ⅛ tsp Ginger, Minced
- 1 tsp Korean Plum Extract
- ¾ tsp Fish Sauce
Directions
Cut about 1 lb worth Korean radish into 2 x 1 x ¼ inch pieces.
To make the savory sauce, put 1½ Tbsp soup soy sauce, 1 Tbsp hot pepper powder, ½ Tbsp sugar, 1 tsp minced garlic, ⅛ tsp minced ginger, 1 tsp Korean plum extract, and ¾ tsp fish sauce into a bowl.
Mix everything together. You can use sugar instead of plum extract and salt or soy sauce instead of the fish sauce.
Place the radish into a pot.
Then, pour the sauce over the radish.
To use up all the remaining sauce in the bowl, pour 1½ cups of water in the bowl like this,
and then pour the water into the pot.
Cook it covered for about 20 minutes on medium-high.
Meanwhile, chop ⅓ cup worth of green onions and 1 Tbsp worth of red hot pepper thinly.
After 20 minutes, the broth should almost be gone.
If a chopstick or fork goes into the radish smoothly like this, your radish is done cooking.
Finally, add the chopped green onions and hot pepper. Sprinkle 1 tsp of sesame seeds over it. Cook 2 more minutes and then it is done.
This dish is good both cold and hot, so store it in the refrigerator and serve anytime you want.
