I got a gift from my husband. ASSA!!! It was a rice cooker, which is a very important thing in aeriskitchen. I love the color and design of this cooker. After I tried to use it several times, I decided to make this post for somebody who wants to buy a good rice cooker, since I like it very much. My husband researched rice cookers quite a bit before he decided to order this one. Reviews from people helped his decision. So, I will do same thing for you. hehe… The company name is Zojirushi and this model is “Neuro Fuzzy Rice Cooker & Warmer NS-ZCC10 5.5 Cups” It is made in Japan.
It has an easy to read wide colored LCD. There are different settings for white rice, sushi rice, mixed grains, porridge, sweet rice, semi-brown, and brown rice with simple up and down button. You can also pick softer, harder, or quick cooking. It has start & completion melody signal. I do like their timer function, so I can prepare the rice at night, and then in the morning, the rice will be ready for me. I didn’t try this yet but, they have a pre-washed rice cooking function also.
As you see the picture, it has black thick spherical inner cooking pan. It is very easy to wash. The stay cool side handles are easy to remove and clean. Even if you never made rice before, you can just use the measuring cups they give and the lines in the pan, and you will have very delicious rice.
Here are 2 cups they give you. When you use a rice cooker, you might have problems cleaning the lid since the moisture and rice steam stick to the lid while it’s cooking, and then it is harder to clean later. This rice cooker has a detachable & washable inner lid. It’s very easy to clean too, so I like that part also.
I took some pictures of my cooked rice with peas. The texture of my rice was exactly what I wanted. I used the mixed grain button for this, the peas were cooked very well. Yummy and healthy!
Cheap rice cookers will cook the rice quicker than this one. However, that speed comes with the price of worse taste and burning the rice on the bottom of the pan. This rice cooker will give you much better tasting rice. This rice cooker does have a fast cook mode, however, I have not been able to bring myself to using it.
So far, I’m very satisfied with my new rice cooker. So if somebody asks me to recommend a good rice cooker, I will highly recommend this to that person. I hope this information was helpful to you. Thanks!

Aeri says
Hi, jiayue
Oh..then you might need small rice cooker. I like the size of mine. We got this from amazon… I put the link on the bottom.. it says…161.99 for 5 and half cups rice cooker. You can click it if you are interested in it. ๐ Thanks !!!
Patty says
Hi Aeri,
I also have the same rice cooker and love it too ๐ I have noticed though that the Korean Cuckoo one cooks multi-grain rice faster (and therefore it’s more expensive.)
Could you one day post a sundubu recipe?
Patty
Aeri says
Hi, Patty
haha.. wow there are many people who have this rice cooker. ๐ Yes, this rice cooker takes longer to make rice than I expected. He was researching Korean Cuckoo too. Good brand..but as you said.. expensive.. it was around 400~500 dollars. so..I’m pretty satisfied with the one I have now. ๐ Oh.. sundubu jjigae ?? Okay..I will add it to my list thanks !!
powerplantop says
I also have that one and I like it. But I have only cooked plain white rice in it.
[WORDPRESS HASHCASH] The poster sent us ‘0 which is not a hashcash value.

Alex says
Hey Aeri. I actually have the same rice cooker. It cooks well but there is one thing.. Japanese rice cookers cook at lower pressure than Korean rice cookers like Cuckoo and thus it takes like 50 minutes to cook rice while korean rice cookers take only 20 minutes. Thats one bad thing ๐ – gotta wait a long time to eat rice! :p
enjoy it though~
Aeri says
Hi, Alex
haha.. I agree.. as I mentioned to patty. Just problem to buy Korean brand Cuckoo was.. price.. seems a little expensive.. just make rice ahead with your timer.. then.. it will be okay..right ? thanks !!! ๐

Hi Aeri!
Your husband is very thoughtful. I don’t like peas but I bet your rice will taste great with some fresh kimchi!! Oh yum. Btw, I’m having a girl! My husband is ALREADY worrying about the future “boys” in her life. Heheh.

Hi, Aeri! I will start off by saying how much I enjoy your website! I just got back from spending a month in Seoul, and I’ve already used a few of your recipes… and they were all wonderful! ๐ Since coming back from Korea I have been wanting to invest in a good rice cooker, and this one looks great! I have been looking these models up online and I am currently on H-Mart’s website. They have this rice cooker’s settings listed as brown rice, sushi rice, sweet rice, and mixed rice. This may be a silly question, but does this cooker simply steam white rice? ๐
Aeri says
Hi, Anna
hehe… thank you very much for your kind comment. Wow… so how was your trip in Korea. I hoped you had a great time over there. Yes, when I looked the price of rice cooker in the Korean grocery store, it seemed like.. a little over price… anyway.. are you asking me that my rice cooker only cooks white rice ?? sorry I didn’t understand what you meant exactly..if that’s what your question.. my rice cooker cooks different kinds of rice.. brown rice.. mixed grain, sushi rice…. something like that.. If you were asking other thing.. please let me know.. thanks !!!
Anna says
Hello again! ๐ My trip to Seoul was amazing! I got to visit some close friends of mine while I was over there, so not only did I get to explore Seoul and Korean culture, I got to spend time with loved ones! Being in Korea was an awesome experience, and I definitely want to go back! It has been my dream to teach ESL to children in Seoul for quite some time now, and I hope to go back next summer after I graduate from college this May. Anyway, thank you for responding to my post so quickly! I know that this rice cooker cooks different types of rice, but I am wondering if I can just put white rice into the cooker and steam it. Is there a setting for that? ๐ Enjoy your afternoon!
Aeri says
Hi, Anna
That’s great that your trip was amazing. ๐ Korea wants to have many English native speakers as English teachers nowadays, so you will dream come true soon. ๐ About your question.. oops.. I still fully understand what you meant by steamed rice.. so I researched the google..it said.. my rice cooker is called.. rice cooker/ steamer…Which means.. it makes steamed rice. Sorry for poor answer.. Have a great week !!!
Kaleigh says
Thanks for addressing the rice cooker – my husband and i have been eating a lot of rice lately and we’ve been thinking about buying a rice cooker. But I really wouldn’t know what to look for, how to choose one. You gave me a very good idea as to what features to look for in a rice cooker – I like the detachable lid thing, which makes cleaning easier. So thanks for posting this!
Aeri says
Hi, Kaleigh
Oh.. if you eat lots of rice, you will need a good rice cooker. ๐ I’m happy to hear that my post about rice cooker was helpful to you. Thanks !!!
steamers and rice cookers says
The rice cooker looks really cute, it just look like a CD case-stereo, no one will believe that it was a rice cooker unless you try to look at it closely.
Is it a handy kind of rice cooker? What about its weight?! Is it heavy or what?
Are there other colors aside from the one you have posted?!
Nick says
I’m so jealous… I wanted this exact rice cooker! But I’m a student and it’s too expensive.. hopefully I will buy one in the future..kkk Hope it serves you well for a long time~
Aeri Lee says
Hi Nick,
haha.. yes, as a student, just use a small and cheap rice cooker. I did too…hehe I’m sure that there are good brands for college students. ๐
Nick says
Sorry.. a question, too.. is it good for ์ฅ์๋ฏธ.. I try to eat it now to be healthier
Aeri Lee says
Hi Nick,
oh.. sorry…what is ์ฅ์๋ฏธ ^^:; I’ve never heard of it. It sounds like… mixed grain rice ??
rony says
Hi every body
Hello Aeri
I want to buy a rice cooker but this type is so expensive for me
Please can you tell me other cheap trusted brand names?
Many thanks
Best regards
Aeri Lee says
Hi rony,
Yes, I can understand… you might feel it’s so expensive… One of my Korean friend has a rice cooker ( black & decker ) and it seems okay to use..and it’s cheap compare with other brands.. since you want to have cheap brand..I want you try that one.
I will give you a link for it. ๐ thanks

Aeri Lee says
hi rony,
We ordered it from amazon.com
They didn’t have Korean brands…and we saw some of Korean brands rice cooker from Korean online store..and they were too expensive to buy.. like 300~400 dollars.. so with the good reviews..we decided to buy this and I’m pretty happy about the decision. hehe thanks

I also have this rice cooker. mY sister bought it for me as my wedding gift three years ago.. and I love it.
Aeri Lee says
Hi hyunee,

Dae says
I have the same rice cooker and after 2 years doesn’t work properly, after making your rice smells bad like fungus… we had older models from Zojirushi, but after this bad product no more… personally I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS MODEL.
I like your site~!!! ํ์ดํ !!!
Aeri Lee says
hi Dae,
Oh.. really ? I’m been using it for more than 1 and half year…and so far.. I sill like it very much.. so let’s see what will happen to mine after 2 years..
Nadine says
Hi Aeri ๐
We have the exact same rice cooker!
sandy says
Hi Aeri,
Well, it’s been over 2 yrs now. Does this rice cooker still work well? What have you found to be pros/cons about this rice cooker? Thanks for your input.
Aeri Lee says
hi sandy,
wow.. time flies.. it’s already 2 years since i got this ?? @.@
I still like the rice cooker.. I noticed.. it started to get a little yellow browinsh rice on the bottom.. (not burn or anything.. just cooked more on the bottom..)..but not big deal.. since that taste good hehe.. I use fast cook usually.. it works just fine.. so in 30 minutes i can get fresh rice.. well.. I can’t think bad points..hehe
Jennifer Kim says
Thank you for this post! Even though it’s a tad old. I’m glad to see on the follow up comments, that it’s still working well! I just ordered min on Amazon.com. Since my Hello Kitty one I bought from Target, seems to have it’s moments with soggy rice, burnt rice and nice rice…whenever it decides. I decided to go ahead and replace it. Thank you again for your post.
Aeri Lee says
hi Jennifer Kim,
Yes.. it’s been several years now since I got it.. then I still like it. ๐ Thanks
Jim says
We have had a Zojirushi NS-JCC10 for many years used daily. The cooking bowel is getting scratched and cant find replacement, For sure buy another I like the retractable power cord.
Aeri Lee says
hi Jim,
When we moved back to Korea, I gave this to one of my friends.. so I don’t have it anymore even we came back to America again.. lol Yes, I liked to use this rice cooker.
Jessica K says
Hi Aeri,
I love your website! (and your cookbook which I bought :)) I grew up eating Korean food, but never learned to cook so your site has been a great place to learn from. I was wondering about making Juk in a rice cooker I have a cuckoo cr-0351f which seems to have similar functions to your rice cooker. Where I’m confused is, when I make it on the stove top I’ve always fried the rice with sesame oil before adding the liquid, so I don’t know if I should do this before putting the rice and water in the rice cooker? Thanks so much!!
Aeri Lee says
hi Jessica K,
I think your rice cooker will have an instruction for making porridge. Yes, you are right.. you fry the rice with sesame oil on the stove.. hehe (impressive that you know it.. ) but.. it is more for flavor.. so what you can do it.. just add little bit of sesame oil to your rice cooker with the water and rice (or other ingredients you are adding for your porridge) when you start to cook the porridge in the rice cooker. Thanks for your comment. ๐

I just found your website while searching for an Andong JjimDak recipe (loved it on my last visit to Korea). Then, as I was browsing through your blog, envious of your skills, I saw this — we have the same rice cooker. I’ve found a new Korean food recipe home. Thank you —
