Hi, today I will share an awesome recipe using shrimp. This creamy, sweet, tangy, and crunchy shrimp dish is called “크림 새우 (KeuRim SaeU)” in Korean. You can serve it as a impressive party food with pretty plating and presentation. You do not want to miss this tasty shrimp dish.

Short Korean Lesson
- GwanSim (관심) = Interest
- MuGwanSim (무관심) = Unconcern
- 12 Large Raw Shrimp (1 Cup, 6 oz)
- Some Cooking Oil For Deep Frying
- 1 Cup Iceberg Lettuce
- ¼ Cup Korean Frying Mix or All Purpose Flour
- ¼ Cup Corn Starch
- ¼ Cup Ice Water
- 1 Pinch Salt
- 6 Slices Lemon (For Garnish)
- Some dried Parsley (For Garnish)
- ¼ Cup Mayonnaise
- 2 tsp Sugar
- 1 tsp Lemon Juice
- ½ tsp Vinegar
- ¼ tsp Garlic, Minced
Prepare about 12 raw large shrimp (1 cup, 6 oz).
Peel off the shells and remove tails from the shrimp.
Add ¼ cup each of Korean frying mix and corn starch, 1 pinch of salt, and ¼ cup of cold water to a mixing bowl. Mix everything together.
The consistency should be like this.
Add the shrimp into the batter and mix it well.
Preheat your deep frying cooking oil. When the cooking oil is ready, a little drop of batter will float one second after it is dropped in.
Take a shrimp from the batter.
One bye one, put all the shrimp into the oil. Fry them for about 4 minutes on medium-high.
After 4 minutes, the shrimp will be nicely fried. Take out all the fried shrimp and set them on a paper towel for a while. To make them crispier, we are going to fry them one more time.
Let’s make a really awesome sauce that will make them every tastier. Put ¼ cup of mayonnaise, 2 tsp sugar, 1 tsp lemon juice, ½ tsp vinegar, and ¼ tsp of minced garlic into a pan.
Cook the sauce for a minute or 2 on medium-low. It is important not to over cook the sauce on higher temperature.
Refry the shrimp,
2 minutes later, take out all the fried shrimp.
Add the shrimp into the sauce.
Mix everything gently and make sure that they are coated evenly with the sauce.
For an appetizing dish, get about 1 cup worth of shredded iceberg lettuce.
We also need few half slices of lemon.
On a large plate, place the lemon slices in a circle to look like a flower.
Put the iceberg lettuce in the center of the flower.
Put all the shrimp on the lettuce. Sprinkle some dried parsley over the shrimp.
