I love simple recipes that have a small list of ingredients. Not only are they easy to make, but sometimes the best flavor comes from just the natural ingredients. Today, I will share my favorite spaghetti recipe. It is made with shrimp and garlic. One night, I ate out with my sister-in-law at a local Italian restaurant. I ordered a dish called “shrimp and garlic buttered spaghetti.” I love shrimp, garlic, and buttered spaghetti, so it sounded like the perfect choice. The food was delicious, but the amount of shrimp was very stingy and the cost of the meal was high. I became determined to make it at home so that I could have more shrimp and save money. So, that is how this recipe came into being. LOL Now you can save money by making this at home in addition to enjoying it as much as you would in the restaurant.

Video Instructions
Main Ingredients
- 3 Oz Spaghetti (4 Cups Water + ½ tsp Salt)
- 15 Medium Pre-cooked Shrimp (3 oz)
- 1½ Tbsp Garlic
- 1½ Tbsp Salted Butter
- ½ Tbsp Olive Oil
- ⅛ tsp Salt
- 2 Pinches Black Pepper
- Some Parsley (Garnish)
Directions
Add about 3 oz of spaghetti in 4 cups of boiling water.
Add ½ tsp of salt and cook for about 8-9 minutes on medium-high. Depending on the kind of spaghetti the cooking time can be different, so follow the instruction on the pack of your spaghetti.
Melt the butter with the olive oil in a heated pan and add 1½ Tbsp of chopped garlic. Fry for 5 seconds on medium-high.
Once the spaghetti is done, drain the water.
I used frozen pre-cooked medium sized shrimp and removed the tails. You can use fresh ones too. Add the shrimp to the pan and fry for 2 minutes. If it’s fresh shrimp, cook for 4 minutes.
Add the cooked spaghetti to the pan and cook for 2 minutes on medium-high.
Season it with some salt and black pepper. I added ⅛ tsp of salt and 2 pinches of black pepper.
If you want, you can sprinkle some parsley on top to garnish. Serve it with a simple leafy salad and some fruit. It can be a good meal for guests. My new taste taster, Bryson, loved it and told me “More! More!” Try it someday.

hi Mayani Ponderika,
Maybe you can cut some fresh or dried hot pepper and add the pieces when you fry the garlic. Or you can eat the spaghetti with jalapeno pepper pickles 😉 thanks

Hi, it’s simple but it’s look good. I’ll try. Can i use unsalted butter and cooking oil?
Aeri Lee says
Yes, you can. Adjust the saltness with salt.:)
Christine says
Hi Yun Gi,
When do you add the Parmesan? And what type do Parmesan ; shredded or super fine?
Aeri Lee says
hi Christine,
I’m not Yun G, but I can tell you about your question. You can add parmesan either at the end of cooking.. when it’s almost done cooking.. or before serving after turn off the heat… any type of parmesan cheese is fine.. 🙂 Just one thing to remember.. since parmesan cheese is kind of salty.. so if you are going to add it, adjust the salt amount for this recipe. 🙂
