Today, I will introduce you to a quick and easy side dish using button mushrooms. Mushrooms have a savory flavor and give extra flavoring when used as an ingredient in other dishes. Because of that, mushrooms can make a delicious dish without many additional seasonings. They can also be used for making good broth. I like many different kinds of mushrooms. The mushroom flavor in this dish, along with the garlic and hot pepper, tastes very good. Try it someday. 🙂

Video Instructions
Main Ingredients
- 1 Pack (8 oz) Button Mushroom
- 2 Tbsp Sliced Garlic (4-5 Cloves)
- 1½ Tbsp Vegetable Oil
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- ¼ Generous tsp Salt
- 2 Pinches Black Pepper
- 1 Tbsp Red and Green Hot Pepper (Optional)
- Sesame Seeds (Garnish)
Directions
Obtain 1 pack (8 oz) of button mushroom. Cut off the bottom of the stalk from the mushrooms. Cut each one in half and then cut them into ¼-inch slices.
Add 1½ Tbsp of vegetable oil and 2 Tbsp worth of thinly sliced garlic in a heated pan. Fry for about 10 seconds on medium-high.
Add the mushrooms.
Add 1 Tbsp of sesame oil, ¼ generous tsp of salt, and 2 pinches black pepper. Depending on your tastes, you can adjust the saltiness. Fry for 5 minutes on medium.
If you want to add a little heat to them, add about 1 Tbsp worth of finely chopped red and green hot peppers. Fry another minute, and then turn off the heat.
Sprinkle some sesame seeds on top and serve them. They taste best when they are fresh and warm. Enjoy!

Aeri 언니!! Hi! I really want to make this, but where I live, button mushrooms are REALLY expensive. Can I substitute button mushrooms with 느타리 버섯? Thank you! ^^

Hi Aeri! For the Button Mushroom BokkEum how long for a duration can we keep as a side dish?
Aeri Lee says
hi A. Lee,
As you see, the serving size for this recipe is not that big.. it’s a kind of side-dish..that it tastes the best to eat right away. You can keep for few days..but not more than that. I usually make it and just eat for that meal. Thanks ^^
