Korean Potato Wedge Pizza

Pizza is one of the most popular foods in America. My husband loves it so much that our family has a pizza day every week. lol Do Koreans love pizza too? I cannot say that pizza is a food for all ages in Korea like it is in America, but it is a popular food for Koreans, especially the younger generations. Then, how is Korean pizza is different? 🍕 That is what I’m going to show you today. 😉 Koreans like a lot of toppings on their pizza. Among those toppings, there are some ingredients that you may have never saw on pizza before, such as sweet potato paste, sweet corn, seasoned potatoes, etc. Does anything sound interesting? For me, as a potato lover, I always liked potato on my pizza in Korea. My husband thought it was weird to see potato wedges on top of his pizza for the first time. Then, once he tried Korean potato pizza, he liked it. I tried to keep this recipe simple, yet still delicious. I will also teach you how to make a garlic dipping sauce that Korean pizza restaurant often serve with this potato pizza. Homemade Knife Noodles

It is still hot these days, but did you notice that some trees are already starting to change colors and some nights are cooler? I can feel that before long, we will see the beautiful fall season. When I think of cold weather, I can easily think of warm noodle soup. So, today I want to show you how to make a kind of Korean homemade noodle called KalGukSu. Kal means knife and guksu means noodles. You knead the dough, roll it out, and then cut it into thin noodle strips with your knife. That’s where the name came from. If you buy this type of noodle in a Korean grocery store, it is about 6 dollars a pack for 4-5 servings. When I consider the price of the main ingredient, flour, we can save good money by making it at home. Plus, it can be healthier too. For this recipe, I will just share the noodle recipe, but later, I will also share a delicious kimchi kalgusu recipe using these noodles. Stay tuned for it. Hi, everyone. I’m craving something spicy, and the weather is getting cooler. I always eat kimchi with my Korean food, and I have some leftover dough for homemade Kalguksu noodles in my refrigerator. What can I cook to satisfy me? And, how many of you are actually in the same situation as me? When I posted homemade kalguksu recipe last week, the first thing that entered my mind was Kimchi Kalguksu. I could imagine that you would love it as much I do. The spicy and savory broth with chewy and soft homemade noodles, along with delicious cooked kimchi in it tastes so good. Please try it someday.

Family Secret Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

My husband’s family used to make a large batch of homemade spaghetti sauce once a year. Since they canned it, all of us could enjoy delicious homemade sauce all year around. Although it was delicious, it needed a lot of work and time – too much of work. It would take about a whole day to make it. I have good memories helping my mother-in-law make the spaghetti sauce, but for the past several years, we stopped making it. I’ve been craving that tasty sauce. My husband always wanted to make shortcut version of it, which still tastes like the secret family recipe. We tried different methods over the years, each time getting closer to the goal. Finally, I can share a successful recipe to share with you. 🙂 My husband thinks that this easy version of spaghetti sauce is almost the same as the original. Yay!!! 👏😄 For this recipe, I’m going to use an electric pressure cooker as a key method to save my time and effort. I am very excited to show you how to make this delicious homemade spaghetti sauce in an hour. 🙂 I also can not wait for my in-laws to try it and tell me what they think about it. lol

Korean Sauna Eggs

If you are into Korean dramas, or if you’ve visited Korea, you might know that saunas are popular in Korea. People often eat special food while they are relaxing and enjoying their time there. Some popular ones are cold rice drinks called sikhye and steamed eggs. I already posted a recipe for sikhye before, so you can check it out. Since I’m living outside of Korea right now, I no longer can eat those delicious eggs. I was debating making them at home and I finally got the chance to do it. Recently, I was thinking of getting an electric pressure cooker or a slower cooker, because there are several different kinds of food that I wanted to make with it, such as spaghetti sauce, steamed eggs like the ones in Korean saunas, galbitang, etc. Then, as if somebody was reading my mind, one day, a company named BESKEK contacted me and suggested that I try their new electric pressure cooker. It was a perfect timing. Before I accepted a pressure cooker from them, I made it clear that, if I try it, I will only share my review publicly if I think their product is good. Otherwise, I will not make any posts, even if they send me their product. Thankfully, they agreed with me. I could experience something new in my kitchen. So far, I made plain white rice (I wanted to compare it with my stove-top pressure cooker), steamed eggs, homemade spaghetti sauce, and chicken broth. In this post, I will review my experience and share one recipe (steamed eggs) with you. Of course, this means that I’m satisfied with the result and I think this product is good enough to introduce to my viewers. 🙂 So here is my homemade Korean sauna egg recipe for you. ^^

Homemade DanMuJi (Pickled Radish for Kimbap)

Hi! Is everyone having a good summer? Like other mothers, I’m very busy during my kids’ fun summer vacation. Anyway, I hope everyone has a healthy and enjoyable summer. Today I would like to introduce a recipe that many people will be delighted with. It is pickled radish, which is a necessary ingredient for kimbap. In it’s name, “단” means “sweetened” and “무지” means pickled radish. So, as the name implies, this radish is sweet, sour, and savory like pickles. This makes Kimbap more delicious with other ingredients. I tried to make this two different ways. One is using saffron and the other is using turmeric to color it. It was my goal to make a healthy and delicious version that does not contain chemicals, and I finally achieved that goal. So I am very happy to share this recipe.

Mammoth Ppang

Hi, mammoth bread is a popular Korean snack. Don’t worry though, this bread doesn’t contain any wooly mammoths in it. lol As you can see in the video, this bread is huge so it was named after the wooly mammoth. 😉 This bread is unforgettable not only because of the name, but also because of the delicious flavor. You can use any jam for the filling, and if you love whipped cream like me, I highly recommend using it as well. I used my Kitchen Aid mixer to knead the dough, and I was very impressed. Today, I will show you a great way to pack a lunchbox for a family picnic using the bulgogi and ssamjang that I posted before. This three layer lunchbox is beautiful and will boost your appetite and give you a balanced meal with delicious flavors. It looks very fancy, but it is super easy to prepare, so it cannot get any better. 🙂 One layer is the bulgogi for the meat group. Rice, wrapped with lettuce and ssamjang (which is the seasoned soybean paste) gives you some grains and veggies. Lastly, the colorful rainbow fruit skewers makes for a nice and fresh dessert. Why don’t you make this fun and tasty lunchbox and go on a picnic with your loved ones in this spring? 🙂

Seasoned Soybean Paste

Today, I’m very excited to share my delicious ssamjang recipe with you. I made this especially for my long time friend, Arleen who wanted to know the Aeri’s Kitchen version of ssamjang. Here it is, Arleen. I hope you like my ssamjang recipe. 🙂 Ssamjang is a seasoned soybean paste that you use for wrapping Korean B.B.Q. with some lettuce. When you wrap Korean meat, you can add some raw onion, garlic, fresh hot pepper, and so on. So, all those flavors go in to this delicious ssamjang too. Enjoy this salty, spicy, garlicky, slightly sweet, and nutty flavor. In my next post, I will show you how to pack a simple lunch box with this ssamjang, so stay tuned. 🙂
