Hi Everyone! Today, I will announce the May 2012 contest with Sempio, “Exploring Sempio’s World.” At the end of this video, I will announce the 30 winners from the April 2012 contest. So stay tuned if you entered that contest.
Sempio JeJu Hairtail JoRim
샘표 제주 갈치조림, Sempio JeJu GalChi JoRim

Here is another great and simple dish using one of Sempio’s pre-made sauces. This time, it is a spicy fish dish. This specific dish calls for hair-tail, however you can use mackerel instead. The fish and radish absorbes the sauce which gives them great flavor. You will love the fact that you simply pour the sauce on the fish and vegetables to get a delicious main dish, which will taste similar to a homemade dish. You can purchase the sauce in big Korean grocery stores or Amazon. I highly recommend you to try it, especially if you want to cut down on your cooking time for daily meals.

Korean Sweet Potato TwiGim
고구마 튀김, GoGuMa TwiGim

Do you have any specific food that brings back good memories from your childhood? My mom used to cook delicious snacks for us when we were little. This Korean sweet potato snack was one of them. Since it is a deep-fried food, she did not make it often, which made us more excited when we had the rare chance to eat it. I remember begging her for a piece that just came out of the boiling oil because I could not wait any longer. lol… The funny thing is my son did the exact same thing even though he never ate it before. Maybe it was the delicious smell that made him want to try it so badly. We think he is a little too young to be eating deep fried foods, but someday he might get his own fond childhoods memories about this food as I did. Every now and then, I crave my mom’s Korean sweet potato twigim. Now, I can make it for myself and it is good enough to tame my desires for my mom’s twigim. 😉

Five Color Fist Bap
오색 주먹밥, OSaek JuMeokBap

Many people wonder about what kind of tasty things Koreans pack for a picnic or lunch box. This recipe is a great example. Not only is it pretty, but it also has a good combination of nutrients; you can get something from each food group. Don’t forget to pack some fruit with your meal too. If you have difficulties feeding your child veggies, try this. Kids will enjoy making this, as well as eating what they made. 🙂

Banana Graham Cracker Dessert
바나나 그래햄 크레커 디져트, Banana Graham Cracker Dessert

I’m not sure how old this recipe is, but I do know that it goes back a long ways. It is a very easy recipe to make, and it doesn’t require a lot of ingredients. It tastes better if it sets for a few hours to allow the Graham Crackers to soften.

Sempio YounDoo Experience Corps 2

Hi Everyone! Today is the last day of March 2012. Spring is my favorite season. How about yours? I hope that everybody is having a great 2012 so far. Thank you for visiting today and for your comments.
Today, I want to talk about a fun event with you in April: the Sempio YounDoo Experience Corps 2. If you are a long time follower of my blog, you might remember a similar event in 2010. The winners who had the chance to try Youndoo then gave very positive reviews about it.
Dumpling Filling Jeon
만두속 전, ManDuSok Jeon

Dumplings are delicious, but they are a lot of work to make. Imagine something that is just as delicous, but is easier and faster to make. That sounds great, right? If you are in that situtation, this recipe is what I suggest. 🙂 If you have any leftover dumpling filling, or have the ingredients to make dumplings, you can make delicious “Dumpling Filling Jeon.” I posted a garlic dumpling recipe before, so you can use that filling for this recipe. Try this someday. 🙂

Sempio Spicy Small Octopus BokkEum
샘표 낚지 볶음, Sempio NakJi BokkEum

This is stir-fried spicy octopus dish is made using Sempio’s mokpo octopus sauce. Many Korean dishes, especially soups and stews, ask for many different kinds of seasoning ingredients. Because of that, those Korean foods are more difficult to make to get the right flavor; getting the right amount of each seasoning ingredient is the secret for making good dishes. When I feel lazy, or do not have enough time to cook, it is nice to have pre-made sauces on hand. I made this octopus dish and ate it with some of my Korean friends for lunch. They all enjoyed it a lot. If I did not tell them, they would not have known that I used a pre-made sauce. 😉 For extra flavor, I added a little bit of sugar, and it turned out very delicious.
