When the weather gets hotter, it is great to have something refreshing. Personally, I think that cucumber a perfect choice for that job. Cool cucumber and savory crab sticks, along with a sweet and sour mustard sauce will make this dish very tasty.

If the most famous street food in South Korea is TteokBokkI (Spicy Rice Cake Dish, 떡볶이), in North Korea, it is DuBuBap (Tofu Rice, 두부밥), which I would like to introduce to you today. This North Korean food that I stumbled across on TV made me think that I should make and eat it someday. After studying how the North Koreans make this on the Internet, I made my own delicious recipe. I made some changes to this that I wanted, but the finished food is very satisfying. Despite the fact that tofu is not a personally preferred ingredient for me, this tofu rice is so delicious that I keep eating it. Filled with seasoned rice in a tofu that is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and served with delicious seasoning, the taste is the best. Be sure to make this tofu rice someday. I bet my vegan or vegetarian subscribers will be so happy to try this.

A deep fried sweet potato dish called GoGuMa TwiGim (고구마 튀김) is a popular street food in Korean. Some Koreans make it at home, but since it is a deep fried food, and you have to deal with the leftover frying oil, it is not always an easy option to choose. (I already shared the recipe before, so you can check it out.) Therefore, we make it as a simpler version pan frying them instead, which I’m going to teach you how to do in this post. I seasoned the sweet potatoes for use as a side dish, but you can also enjoy it as a snack food. The slightly sweet and salty flavor, along with its crispy and soft texture make it a great dish.

We know that cabbage is very healthy, bu cabbage doesn’t seem to get picked for cooking as often, compared to other vegetables. Why? Maybe because of its bitter flavor and tough texture? Or maybe because we just don’t know how to enjoy it much? Here, I brought one way to enjoy cabbage in a Korean side-dish called YangBaeChu SoSeJi BokkEum (양배추 소세지 볶음). You can simply use oyster sauce as the only seasoning, or you can also use a few more seasoning ingredients that I will list in more detail later. This stir fried cabbage covered with the smoky flavor from the hotdogs and savory oyster sauce flavor is just amazing.

Korean radish is often used for cooking soup in Korean cuisine. Among different ways to cook it, today I will show you how to make a very spicy and delicious radish and beef soup called MaeUn SoGoGi MuGuk (매운 소고기 무국) in Korean. The tender radish and beef along with flavorful and spicy broth make a perfect soup, especially when you are hungry for something spicy. If you don’t have any appetite or need energy, this soup is recommended. After eating a bowl of soup, you will feel that your mood and condition is improving.

When it is the right season (winter), fresh oysters can be transformed into an amazingly delicious Korean side-dish with some Korean radish and seasoning ingredients. If you ever tried new kimchi with fresh oyster inside, you will know the great taste of raw oyster. Today, I will show you a tasty side-dish called Gul MuSaengChae (굴 무생채) in Korean. The crunchy salted radish and soft fresh oyster with Korean style spicy and savory seasoning make this dish very special. Since the weather is getting hotter, it is not a good time to eat raw oyster, but you definitely need to try it when winter comes back.

A few weeks ago, I posted a recipe for corn cheese dumplings and some people already tried and loved it. Then, one of the comments I got asked me if I can share a recipe for homemade dumpling wrappers because she wanted to try my recipe, but cannot get store bought dumplings around her. I thought there might be more people like her who cannot get dumpling wrappers easily, so I created this recipe and I’m very excited to share it with you today. It takes some labor, but it only has 3 ingredients. The texture and flavor is even better than store bought ones according to my husband. lol So let’s get started.

Today, I will introduce another very popular regional food from Busan, Korea. It is called, “Busan BiBim DangMyeon.” You need to try it if you visit Busan someday. The cold chewy noodles, along with various flavors from toppings and the spicy sauce, make for a great noodle dish. This can be a simple lunch or a snack. Try it someday.

This week, I challenged myself to cook something delicious with what I normally have on hand, which is dumpling wrappers, cheese, and canned corn. What I came up with is called Corn Cheese ManDu (콘치즈 만두) in Korean. Not only it is easy and fun to make, the flavor is amazing with just a few ingredients. I am glad that I could use my old dumpling wrappers from my freezer which needed to be used. hehe If you want to try something different with your dumpling wrappers, try this recipe.

Today, I will share one of my new recipes with soybean sprouts – it is called KimChi KongNaMul GukBap (콩나물 국밥) in Korean. It is one of my favorite foods. I used to enjoy it in restaurants in Korea. In a clay pot, you serve some rice mixed with delicious kimchi soybean soup and extra seasoning ingredients. Oh my, it is so simple, yet so tasty – just as you would get from a Korean restaurant.
